1924 – 1945

St Martins is established as The St Martins-Le-Grand Property Company Limited.

 

1945 - 1956

The company starts to expand after the Second World War and in 1947 merges with the Cheapside Land Development Company Limited, which owns a number of London office properties. St Martins then acquires Porkellis Property & General Investment Trust Limited in 1954, further expanding the portfolio of office investments.

 
1956 – 1973

1956 - 1973

Rapid growth follows after 1956, with acquisition of a number of property companies including London & Northern Properties Limited, introducing significant portfolios of investment properties and development sites. During this period the name of the Company changes to St Martins Property Corporation Limited. During the 1960's and 1970's many schemes are developed including Kings Mall Shopping Centre at Hammersmith (pictured right).

 
1973 - 1980

1973 - 1980

In addition to growth by acquisition, St Martins embarks on an extensive programme of property development. St Martins invests in Hay’s Wharf and surrounding warehouses (pictured left, later to become Hay’s Galleria). In 1974, St Martins is acquired by the State of Kuwait, which purchases the company as part of its ‘Fund for Future Generations.’

 
1981 - 1990

1981 - 1990

During the 1980s, St Martins expands its portfolio with the completion of major office, retail and warehousing schemes including: Hay’s Galleria and London Bridge City; Windmill Hill Business Park in Swindon; Monument Mall in Newcastle and Cathedral Lanes in Coventry.

 

Today

St Martins now has a portfolio comprising over 20 prime assets, with total portfolio value of c.£3bn. Day-to-day property management for our properties in the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands is carried out by CB Richard Ellis, Cushman & Wakefield and Jones Lang LaSalle. Our headquarters office is situated in our London Bridge City development and we have regional offices in Melbourne and Perth, Australia.
